After looking at wideglides my wife decided we need bags to carry some jackets and stuff in, showed her some pics of streetglides and now she says that is what we need. I found an 06 with 6,000miles for 4 grand less than a new 08, do you think it is a good deal or should I go for the 08? What should I look for in the 06 as far as any kind of problems or recalls?
I love my 08! Fly-by-wire-throttle, Cruise, ABS, 6-speed, warranty, plug & play sat radio. I've owned 8 Harley's and this has been the best bike yet.
Get an 08 with ABS if you can swing it. 96 inch, six speed, six gallon tank, brembo brakes, upgraded radio, etc. Plus it comes with the standard 2 year warrenty. I had a 06 electraglide classic, only issues were the ones that had the 8 degree injectors, they changed most of them to 25 degree if you had problems, my bike would stall sometimes when you pulled out after a stop, dammed near dropped it a couple of times turning out of my driveway. Dealer fixed it and it ran flawlessly after that. Only other thing I recall was an issue with the ignition switch fork lock, that was recalled and also fixed by my dealer. Of course after I got stranded at a resturant about dark one night, had to call a buddy to get my mower trailer and my motorcycle jack, not a fun evening trying to get a 800 lb bike up a mower ramp with the forks locked to one side (my fault because I never got around to getting it in for the replacement til it broke)[:@].
It had about 15000 miles on it when I traded for my 08 ultra in April. I really loved the 06 but this 08 is proving itself to be the bestI have ever had, everytime I ride.
I love my 06, no goofy spaced 6 speed, the new motor has no more power, no smog on the 06 to deal with(a big deal here in CA) the bigger tank might be nice for some,I think I would spend the extra money on some extras, there are plenty!! the 08 has a different radio? i'll put my hawg-wired stuff up against any stock 08 LOL
