Default Oil pressure problems

I have an 02 Roadking FLHRI. Friday night my oil light cam on and will not go off. The motor seemed to be running fine and still starts and idls well. I have changed the oil sending unit with no luck. I decided to pull the oil filter to see if the motor would spray oil while running. Not a drop came out. Does the oil filter need to be on the bike causing vacume for oil to flow properly or should it spray out of the oil filter like I thought it would.

Oil should come out with the filter off. Did you check the oil level? You should have oil on the dip stick even without running the engine. Do not run your bike with no oil pressure!
You can damage your engine running it with no oil pressure.

Pull your cam cover and check the pressure relief bypass. Quite often they can get stuck. Pull it out and verify that it moves freely. You can also replace with a Baisley LMR-02 spring for increased pressure while you're in there. Also you should check the gerotors of the oil pump for wear and verify they are within tolerances. The gerotors should stand proud of the oil pump. Check tensioners also while you're in there and get everything taken care of at once for less hassle of going back in.

I'm no tech, but failed cam chain tensioners can cause a loss of oil pressure.

+1 for Dawg's advice.

Thanks for the advice guys. I think the spring is stuck which is causing the problems I am having now. Hopefully the oil pump hasnt come apart. I am going to get a Feuling oil pump and change it out if it needs it or not. From reading on the net it looks like there is a prob on the older bikes with the stock oil pump
