I bought the locking latch (# 46063-98) to use on my tour pac The part number formy detachable rack is not listed on the instruction sheet for the lock How do I determine which side to install the latch and do I need the washer? Also there is a grove in the latch, the directions indicate installing the grove facing in on some applications and facing out on others. I need help.
The part number for the tour pac rack is #53276-04 I installed it on a 2006 ultra classic.
The latch has a countersunk part for the washer to go in for it to work right. I tried it on both sides. on the left side its a pain in the butt to git the key in and unlock it and take the key back out. I put it on the right hand side and it swings from the outside to the inside, just opposite of the other latch. It still latchs well but gives me access to the keyhole so I can unlock it and git it off. It's so tighht when you swing it around you just about can't even git it off when its not locked.
It worked well for me and a lot of my friends say, now why didn't I do it like that.
Oh yea ! I used blue locktight on the threads also.
