Harley advanced "add on" amp replies needed
This is for anyone with the add on Harley amp that mounts under the tour pack.
I got a hold of the instructions and like so many Harley instructions, they suck.
With that said, for anyone who as added this amp to an Ultra, do you still need to run the "new" add on amp harness "back" to the rear speakers. Or does the amp just run up to the radio and plug in their because the ultra comes "stock" with rear speakers.
Finally, how do you like the performance? Is it a significant boost? I use J and M's with the stock amp and they do pretty well with loud pipes and the highway. I'm just wondering what a bit more clean power can do.
Thanks all.
Over priced and did not want amp under tour pak. I went with hawg wired pliug and play and it out performs the HD one and easier to install
dealer did not recommend it they told me to go hawg wired they were right
Just thougth I would add to the confusion
Spent 4 days riding Milwaukee to Vegas and my riding buddy with the same bike wished he had listened to me.
Did not need the helmet speakers at all any more (even at 90) and volume never went over halfway. Mounted my Ipod in the tourpak in a cushioned pouch and ran the wire to the stereo. Picked up a rf remote for the ipod and velcroed it to my dash.
I am very happy with the amp.
You DO NOT need the additional harness on the Ultra. You just install the harness that comes with the amp and you are done. You can hardly notice the amp under your tourpak. I would send a pick but my bike is in Vegas till the 18th when I will fly out to ride it home.
I emailed you the instructions. Set of wires to each of the four speakers and unplug a connector in the fairing. Plug each of those ends into a plug on the amp harness. Hook up hot and cold and rock on brother.
upgraded my speakers to J&M.. but after hearing some other's, I would probably go with hogtunes.
I can't say it's loud.. but they usually stick me at the front of a parade
I'll try later to upload a pic..it's not going thru at this time
