Big Sucker and OEM filter
- took my old filter and disect it, removed the paper element fill in the groove where the filter was in with 100% sylicone so the entire surface is flat. After letting the sylicone dry hard.
- I took some copper tubing big enough in diameter act as the spacer similar to the OEM filter for the new mounting bolts to go through and cut them the same lenght as the thicknessof the new K&N filter to prevent it from bieng crush.
- I put the filter together as I am mounting it on the bike, the round filter is flexible enough to attain the shape of the OEM filter. I can use my stock filter cover with this MOD and only put out 34$ for the filter and 6$ for the 3 1/2 bolts andthe sylicone tube.
With this filter installed and the XIED's my bike runs cooler and the throttle response is wonderful. Oh yeah that black corbon build up in my the pipes is gone. Pipes looks like someone just clean them.
 \\;
Filter 1A is one of two plate from the original filter after cleaning. \\;
 \\;
FILTER 2A is the other piece. \\; this is after \\;I disected the original filter as you can see from the paper and the wire mess. \\; Three small spacers will be revealed after the fitler is cut in half which will be replace.
 \\;
FILTER 3A this what it looks like after the groove \\;was cleaned out and filled in with sylicone.
 \\;
FILTER 4A is the other piece after the groove was filled in with sylicone.
 \\;
FILTER 5A are the three spacer made of the copper tubing these are the original lenght I work with but after installing the filter and started to tighten it down the filter was being crush just abit so the new version are longer than these about 1/8 of an inch.
 \\;
FILTER 6A is the actual filter, noticed how it took the shape of the original filter. \\; We had some bad storm in MD last night so I forgot the P/N for it. \\; I will post it tonight.
 \\;
FILTER 7A is the filter installed on the OEM housing along with the two hose. \\; The three bolts are duplicate thread pattern \\;from the OEM but 3 1/2 longer with lock washer.
 \\;
FITLER 9A another shoot of the filter final installation.
 \\;
FILTER 8A is with the filter cover installednotice the cap, that's how far the cover will stick out when everything is complete.
 \\;
To put this together after the sylicone has dried hard and the plates cleaned up. \\; Put the filter together as follows:
 \\;
Install the three bolts along with cover braket. \\; With the three bolts through slide the spacers over each bolt. \\; Put the filter over the bolts and spacers, then the second plate to complete the "sandwhich" affect, then the breather hose. \\; At this point the filter is loose and the three bolts are through the second plate of course you'll need to hold it so it does not seperate as you try to align the three bolts into the original holes. \\; Once you get the bolts started and the hose installed tighten the bolts slowly. \\; As it gets started start to align the filter between the two plates. \\; You know the filter is being positioned properly by the lip is over the filter outside diameter.. \\;
 \\;
The top part of the filter is easy to notice it is in place, the bottum part you'll have to feel for the lip making sure it is over the filter. \\; Refer to photo "FILTER 7A" how it assumed the shape of the plates. \\; The photo "FILTER 9A" shows the three bolts and the bracket.
 \\;
I hope my description and this mod everyone finds beneficial as I have. \\; I will try to take it apart again and make a video of the assembly process to post somewhere it can take the file size. \\; As I mentioned I will post the K&\\;N Filter P/N tonight when I get home along with the copper tubing I used for the spacers. \\; Of course the sylicone, the bolts \\;and the copper tube \\;are from any home improvement store.
