Default Spokes or Mags??

who likes spokes and who likes the factory mags??

a buddy of mine had a blow out and he swears it was because he was running spokes so he bought factory mags for his road king classic..

I don't know about spokes causing a flat. I've had both and like the mags better just becaus they are easier to clean and I hat bike cleaning. If the weather is nice enough to wash the bike it's nice enough to RIDE.

Spokes look better, but arent as strong as cast. For a road bike definitely go with cast wheels, for around town or short rides go with spokes. I have a set of 80 spoke american wire wheels on my fxdl - 160 things can go wrong with the spokes - even though I still prefer the spokes over cast, and I aint skeered to take it on a 2000 mile road trip either.

I have never heard of spokes causing a flat unless the installer of the tube pinches it between the rim & tire. Or doesn't get the valve stem centered. Once you got a couple hundred miles you should be safe for the life of the tire. I personally don't like cleaning them and I carry flat repair stuff on my bagger, that doesn't work on a flat tube. Just my opinion

Mags all the way. Preferably chrome or black chrome. Rotors and pulley to match please.

Spokes are the only way to go.

I have had both too...

Mags: Have a flat, fix it on the side of the road get somewhere & have it fixed right.

Spokes: Hope you're somewhere with cell service.

Luckily for me I've only been in the situation with mags. That was bad enough three states from home..

To me, it's an easy decision. Mags from here on out for me. Besides ease of cleaning, mags even look better to some people.

Options are good.

Its a personal choice and I always thought that the MOCO had their wheel choice backwards. The spokes should be standard equipment and the Mags should be the higher price option. As for me, I prefer Mags, from a maintenence and strength issue. The look is a toss up to me.
