Smoother shifting and 5th gear is a little quieter - had the local dealer install it \\;on an 07 EGC. \\; Was charged 1 hour labor when I had the 5000 mile checkup. \\; Purchased the IDS kit from Zanotti HD.
I didn't have excessive noise in 5th or 6th (just a little), \\;but the biggest improvement I noticed was overall smoothness in gear transitions and secondly when I am coming to a stop, you don't feel near as much vibrating or "pulsating" from the engine at the lower rpm's right before you stop at a light. And, of course a quiter transmission at cruising speed in either 5th or 6th gear. One of the best mods I have done especially for the price from Zanotti's. Easy to do, only took me about two hours taking my time.
My bike was good before IDS. \\; It is amazingly more enjoyable to ride now. \\; Great improvement and if it broke I would do it again tomorrow. \\;

Ditto. Don't think it will but I'd replace it in a minute rather than going back to the noisy original sprocket.
My bet is that the few that have had a problem is that it wasn't installed correctly in the first place. I think the way the bearing is pressed probably is the culprit. Just had mine retourqed to 80 lbs. instead of 60 because of the bulletin put out by Harley saying the bolts needed to be torqued to 80 lbs.
From everything I've read/heard, there is an early-model bearing and a later-model bearing. \\; The later model is the one that apparently lasts and causes no further problems.

Good luck,
