This sucks to hear. When I worked at the dealer, the service writer ran the VIN on everybike that came through the door. It just makes sence, why wouldn't the dealer want the recall work? We got paid from the MOCO for doing the repairs. Besides that, we all (9 techs) had a service bulletin folder in our work bays where we could check service bulletins for any bike we had on our lift. It takes less than 2 minutes to check the bulletins.
I never worked at a shop, but agree, that responsibility falls directly on the service managers/service writers shoulders.
i'm glad this topic was brought up. so before the warranty goes out on my 08 sg i gotta make sure that the service dept brings up all the recalls to my bike.
