My wife and I along with another couple, both riding Street Glides, avoided disaster Saturdy evening when a deer hit my bud from the side, spun around into my path and my wife and I finished her off.

I have been trying to post this for two days now. I am gonna see if this shortened version will post and I will add details later if this site will let me.

I'll try short posts to explain. Bart was taking his first lead of the day, we had been riding about 10 hours when the sun went down. A deer ran out of the grass full speed from his side. He never saw the deer. It side swiped him. Hit him just in front of the crash bar.
It broke his foot and bent his crash bar back far enough to trap his leg \\; between it and the air cleaner cover. His bike never wobbled a bit. He coasted to a stop, trying to figure out what the hell just happened.

the deer went into a flat spin low on the road and I ran over it mid body. My wife was asleep. That sure woke her up. My wife and I had no damage and no injury at all. It could've been all four of us on the road pretty easily.
After I saw that Bart was going to be ok, I left the wife with them and went back to drag the deer off the road and take her ears. The ears are in my dehydrator now. We are each going to hang one beside our guardian bells. Something or someone was surely looking after us that night.
We all know it can happen any second, but watching it unfold in front of your eyes will wake you up. I am not sure which was worse. Thinking for sure I was going to watch two of our closest friends slide down the highway, or thinking it was going to be us doing the sliding.

Let's be careful out there and keep the bikers in the win column and the deer in the loss column!
