Engine Rattle- high speed
I am going to try and explain this.......I noticed the other day that my 07 has a rattle at the top end when I am doing 50 mph or faster with high rpm of 3,000 plus and twist "wide open" throttle and hold it there.
It does not do it at low end or low rpm. I am not talking "lugging" the engine either.
The last tank I put in was 91 octane with 10% ethanol. \\;\\\\\\;Normally run 92 or higher. Could that be it?
I am running PCIII, Rush slip ons and big sucker air breather.
Ideas?

Mine has been doing that too, between 70 and 100. \\; i.e. 3000 rpm and up. I dialed back the timing -2 degrees.\\; Hope that takes care of it. I think it's both the heat coupled with the summer grade gasoline. \\;
If you are running ethenol mix you could be leaning out, if that's all you can get for fuel you might put a step larger intermediate jet(for carbs) or remap a little richer.

You dont mention that you have any type of fuel management. You could be running real lean. HD had a TSB for the 2007 because of this problem. They have a free download to sole the problem. But with your exhaust and air mods you need to richen up your fuel mix.
I think I would still run it to the dealer for the download. My brothers 07 was doing the same thing with a Power Commander

 \\;Fuel or timing issues may cause pinging. I see the complaint on this thread is rattling. Rattling is not pinging. Twin cams tend to rattle no matter what you do to fuel or timming. I always wonderd if the gear driven cam system would eliminate this rattle.
