I would not use Polishing Compound.
If the sap is dry/hard, try picking it off with your fingernail. If there are too many spots, try Bug 'n Tar remover. Available at your local auto parts store or Walmart.

Gunk Tar &amp\\; Bug remover Walmart $2&nbsp\\;

I now have zillions of tiny droplets of tree sap on the windshield and fairing. Anybody know how to get this stuff off without scratching the plastic or removing paint in the process?
Might be different with the type of trees you encountered, but, when I get that on my property with oak trees, some spit rubbed on the spot gets it off, believe it or not.&nbsp\\; I know it sounds goofy.&nbsp\\; But that's what I found works.

Now that I know I can post, I've never seen tree sap that I couldn't wash off with a good soap and water wash job.&nbsp\\;Did it stay on for days or what?

I've successfully removed pine sap using a product from Amway called L.O.C. - it took more then one washing but did work...might want to give it a try.

Try peeing on it. Nobody suggested that yet. Somebody had to be a smartass....

I would try the goof-off or alcohol...those sound like reasonable solutions.
