\\;'07 Ultra 8500 miles, \\;When the engine is "cold" at about 2500-2700 RPM I get what sounds like a "ringing noise(two washers \\;loose \\;together/bell), cam chain? \\; Thoughts? \\; anyone else have this?
First thing I thought. \\; I've "held" everything including the bell, and from a 2ft distance you can still hear it. \\; Some kind of "harmonic"?
cam chain tensioner?
I have the exact same thing on my '08 Ultra. \\; It goes away after riding about 10 miles in my case. \\; I tend to think it is pinging, so I am going to check for an intake leak. \\; I have already checked for exhaust leak. \\; When I run out of ideas, I will take it to the dealer. \\; (It's not the guardian bell.) \\; Let me know if you find the cause, and I will do the same.
It doesn't sound like "pinging to me" which I find to be a more "clicking sound" at least in a car. \\; I literally sounds like a bell, or two loose washers hitting each other.
I know this is an old thread but I have noticed a very similar ping/rattle'ish noise when cold under light throttle for about 10-15 miles - which totally goes away when warmed up.
It sounds like it's on the right side (throttle side).
