Default Handlebars

The stock handlebars on my Road King Custom puts a strain on my right hand. Has anyone experienced this uncomfortable angle? It is a 2006 model.

TAKE A LOOK AT THE ALL CHROME CUSTOM PULL BACK THAT HARLEY OFFERS. I USED THEM ON A ROAD KING I HAD YEARS AGO AND THEY ARE MUCH MORE COMFORTABLE THAN STOCK. THEY ARE ALITTLE MORE NARROW AND COME BACK TO YOU MORE RESULTING IN A BETTER POSTURE.

I saw one once with the HD Reach bars. They come back just as far, but with the controls at a more traditional angle for your wrists.

Had the same problem. Switched to the Wild1 W0508 bars. Traditional RK look in a fat bar, Comes back another 2"-3". You can run your wires internally too.

had the same experience with my 05 RKC. switched to HD reduced reach bars (part#56152-04), not sure if it works on your bike though. the wires now run iside the bar-nice clean look. you may need a switch wire extension kit also.this install was well worth the cost and effort. take a look at kurykyn iso-grips to put on while the bar is all apart.

I just bought a set of RK Custom Beach Bars off of ebay and installed them on my 97 RK Standard. I love the look they give my RK. The angle is a little awkward, but I was more uncomfortable with my left hand and the clutch placement. All in all, though, the bars are very comfortable for me and I am 6'2". I rode 400 miles this past weekend and I liked them much better than my old bars...I think that rotating my controls downward a little may help with the awkward angle. This may be a stupid suggestion, but try a throttle rocker. Mine worked well.

Aframe2,

I have an 06 RK Custom also, and I hate the handlebars. They create a cramp in my left hand, especially when I sit at a light with the clutch in. I'm looking for bars that place the grips further apart, and more perpendicular to the rider.

Haven't found a good pair yet, with the dimensions I want. May have to search out a custom builder to make a set.

Matt,
Check out the Wild1 website. I used the W0508 bars and they do exactly what you are asking for. Wider spread and more perpendicular to the driver. The bars are show chrome instead of stainless, and fat. They even have a before/after animation so you can see the difference on a RK, or any other bike.
