I have had problems with 2 different CC companies freezing the cards after swiping it the 2nd time for possible fraud. The first time I figured I maxed it out. Been out on the road 9 days. The 2nd time I knew I had plenty on the card. I never use CC except on trips for convenience. I now call CC company's to let them know I am traveling and haven't had any problems since. If you are like me and usually carry 0 balances and only use them for convince, it might be worth the call.
Yeppirs, good point - and one I got nailed with about 5 years ago on the road! \\; They were freakin' out with all the small purchases all over the western US, and called the house. \\; No answer, so they froze it. \\; Had to call 'em and raise hob to correct it - it's now a call I make at least a week in advance every trip!
