Can anyone tell me the best way to mount the accessory chrome guage bezels on a batwing fairing? I have an 07 Ultra Classic and bought the six Harley chrome guage bezels, two large , tach and speedo, and four small for the other guages. The instructions say to cut the supplied two sided tape into eight pieces and put them on the instrument bezel evenly spaced and then press the chrome bezel onto that. Well , the bezel is extremely thin and I dont see how this would ever stay on. Any experience or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your input in advance.
Following the instructions if you do a good job if it, they will stay on, but what a colossal pain in the ***. Im glad my Street Glide already had them. Put them on my EG Classic, and it was the SECOND biggest pain the but mod I ever did to that bike. One of those "how tough can this be?" little things that has you ready to slit your wrists before your done.
I've heard that 4-6 SMALL dabs of silicone adhesive applied equa-distant around the ring work well. But DONT overdo it, or your in for it if you ever have to take them back off.
I had the same concern about them falling off. \\; I used my hot glue gun and put a small bead around the inside. \\; Works great. \\; They wont come off unless you pry them off. \\; Just make sure you put them on pretty quickly before the glue hardens.

I followed the instructions. \\; they haven't fallen off yet - been at least 8 years (I think I waited a year before I installed them on a '99
