I bought a smoked shield that is a lot shorter than the stock shield.I wanted to get more air on me when it's real hot out. This is the perfect solution! There is a down side though... I can't hear the road tech radio at speeds over 60 mph. It's a fair trade off though because the short shield allows plenty of cooling breeze and yet it's not as severe as going without a shield.I think it looks bad a$$.Check it out:

I too like the look. How far over the windshield are you looking? I demoed a RK this past week with a short shield and didn't like it. I did like looking over the top and it seemed about 2-3 inches above the shield it was good, higher than that too much wind. I am thinking of cutting my stock shield
I think the shortie is 14" above the headlight. They make one that's 11" but I thought that would be too short. I'm guessing that I look over this one by at least 6". I expected the buffeting with the lower sheild but it isn't that bad.
I put on a 17" Clearview that comes up to about my throat and I really like it at any speed. However, I am used to looking over a shield and not through it. The short Clearview was exceptionally good riding two days through a downpour. My son was riding with a shield that he had to look through, or try to look over or around, and he had a tough two days.
THAT looks really great, Monza66mo. Did you send the aircleaner cover out to be painted the factory green? Very cool. How about a photo of your radio and speaker set up?
I cut my stock windshield down 2 inches it is now 18 inches and is pefect for me . I can see over the top but still have protection from wind, I get a \\;slight breeze.
I actually liked the whitewalls but they were a fulltime job to keep clean so I was glad when they wore out. H-D sells the color matched breather covers. Here's the radio behind the stock shield:
