Whats the point? \\; \\; Is it just something to plug a hole?

Has anyone ever attempted to install a oil temp guage in it's place?

I have found that moving the temp sensor lower in the fairing, toward an opening, will make the outdoor temp guage much more accurate. \\; It is placed high in the fairing by the factory and generally reads high due to trapped heat in the fairing.
Yeah, the usual change is to move the voltmeter to the hole occupied by the temp guage, &\\; put an oil temp guage above the oil pressure guage. \\; Voltage is of minor importance, &\\; it gets all your oil information where you can see it at a glance.
I can usually tell if I'm sweatin', freezin', or comfortable. \\; Don't really need a temp guage<\\;shrug>\\;
yeah, the oil temp guage is pretty easy to install in place of the air temp guage. \\; Running the wire up under the gas tank is the hardest part about it. \\; Getting the right adapter sleeve to install the sending unit in the oil pan is the second hardest part. \\; The auto parts store guy will want to send ya to a Harley dealer for it. \\;
