Default Roadglide Temp Guage?

Whats the point?&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\; Is it just something to plug a hole?
&nbsp\\;
&nbsp\\;
Has anyone ever attempted to install a oil temp guage in it's place?
&nbsp\\;

I like it for cool weather to tell if there is ice out yet. Summer it can fill the hole.

I have found that moving the temp sensor lower in the fairing, toward an opening, will make the outdoor temp guage much more accurate.&nbsp\\; It is placed high in the fairing by the factory and generally reads high due to trapped heat in the fairing.

Yeah, I never could figure out why I needed to know
what the temperature was inside my fairing. [sm=confused06.gif]

Yeah, the usual change is to move the voltmeter to the hole occupied by the temp guage, &amp\\; put an oil temp guage above the oil pressure guage.&nbsp\\; Voltage is of minor importance, &amp\\; it gets all your oil information where you can see it at a glance.

I can usually tell if I'm sweatin', freezin', or comfortable.&nbsp\\; Don't really need a temp guage&lt\\;shrug&gt\\;

yeah, the oil temp guage is pretty easy to install in place of the air temp guage.&nbsp\\; Running the wire up under the gas tank is the hardest part about it.&nbsp\\; Getting the right adapter sleeve to install the sending unit in the oil pan is the second hardest part.&nbsp\\; The auto parts store guy will want to send ya to a Harley dealer for it.&nbsp\\;
