Default MPG

I know this has been talked about before, but I just gotta say it.
&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;
I think I am getting almost 250 miles on 1 tank of fuel on my 03 Road King Police.
&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;
Yesterday, my partner and I escorted a truck to the Louisiana state line. The trip from Freeport Texas to BON WIER Texas (never heard of it before yesterday ) was 214 miles by way of the route we took. Anyway we have to stop in Kirbyville Texas because my partner was running out of gas, in fact he said his fuel light had been on for some time. I still had a 1/4 of a tank still. I filled up anyway because we had to stop the load, but if I had not have fueled up there, I could have made it to where we parked the load over night and again that was 214 miles, Kirbyville is only about 16 miles from Bon Wier.
&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;
Anybody else get that kind of milage from there bike. Now mind you, I am 6'3 and weigh in about 275 lbs. so that is some weight on the bike to begin wit.
&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;
This may well be a testimonial for Royal Purple as well, That is the ONLY oil I use in my bike and it has approximately 38,000 miles on it and has taken me ALL OVER the state of Texas. Oh the bike is bone stock with the exception of a set of Screaming Eagle slip-ons.
&nbsp\\;
And by the way, my partner has a 05 Police Electraglide. He initiallly thought he was getting bad gas milage.

I have a 5 gallon tank and am looking for fuel at about 180 miles. I would say your mileage is extremely good compared to mine.

I get 200 miles out of a 6 gallon tank. 35 mpg is about all I get, but I ride rather aggressive.

I average anywhere between 175-190 miles from a tank of fuel on my 06 Road King. When fueling I take anywhere from 4.2gal to 4.7. I have SE Air Kit, SE Slip on and a Power Commander. I would say anything around 40MPG is pretty damn good. I ride a combo of highway and backroads and i,m pretty agressive rider.

My 01 FLHT with 95" totally worked motor, dyno-tuned by Mike Roland gets 43-48mpg

My 05 FLTRI with 98" totally worked motor and SERT gets 42-45mpg

And my Father in law's 08 FLTRI with 96" stock motor, V&amp\\;H oval slipons and SERT dyno-tuned is getting 43-46mpg

We fill up to the filler plate on the side stand every time and check out mileage...Like Katobird [If that's as in Mankato btw, shoot me a PM] said, 60 mph and under makes the difference between 39-40 and mid 40's.

KEWL... I know when we get out away from the Californias GARBAGE Gas and a few States around us the Putt will increase mileage Hwy to close to 50MPG... Nice to ride 200miles and not have to start looking HARD to the next fuel stop.

The only way to check your mileage accurately is to do it over a period of time, tank after tank, and compare the differences with speed and conditions. Record the miles traveled and amount of gas used, and remember than newer bikes have optimistic speedometers, which will exaggerate mileage figures (about 3% in my case). You didn't say how much fuel you added, so it's hard to tell what your actual mileage is, but it sounds like you're doing very well, certainly above average. I assume you were riding at a consistently moderate speed with little stop-and-go and no cold starts, and that's the best situation for getting good mileage. TC's are capable of up to about 50 mpg, maybe higher with a carb and Thunderslide kit, but Delphi EFI has its limitations since syncing cold and warm mode isn't easy. IOW, if you maximize mileage for warm mode you may find that cold mode causes surging or hesitation. That's my experience, anyway, and I tune mine for a compromise. Still, I can get 50mpg if I try, down to as low as 40mpg (a bit lower in winter) in city riding with numerous cold starts. I think this is about as high as I can get with this TC96 without causing light surging and hesitation during the cold cycle.

FWIW, I tuned my old Evo RK to get up to 60mpg after installing a Thunderslide kit, usually mid-50's in touring trim (loaded TP, etc.) riding the backroads. That mileage is not attainable with this new bike for several reasons. The biggest among those is that I don't think TC's get the mileage figures that Evos do, based on my experience and assuming good tuning.
