I started using Amsoil 20/50 in engine and 75/90 severe gear in tranny at about 5k miles. Noticed a reduction in temperature and a quieter, smoother transmission. I don't have any plans to try any other oils.
I only wish the 75/90 had a little colour to it. Tough to see on the chrome dipstick.
I've been using Mobil synthetic transmission fluid in the primary. Probably overkill, but the clutch seems to operate well.
There are more qualified opinions than mine so take it for what it's worth, but I don't think you would have any issues running 20/50 in the primary.
Had it in for a dealer service last fall. Told them that I didn't need them to do the fluids. When I picked it up they let me know that they had a peek at the level and that there was something wrong with the fluid in the primary. It was red.
 \\;You will only notice a differance \\;after a bunch of miles, because your engine won't be worn out. \\;Amsoil is a top of the line oil, Harley oil isn't. \\;You definately need to \\;use it in all three holes. I used the 20-50 in the engine and primary and there 75-110 Severe Gear in the transmission. \\;
