I had an 07 SG and rode it 14k+, never an engine problem. \\; Don't sweat it. \\; That bike was ridden hard, easy, lugged, wound out and still running sweet. \\; Like any other manufactured item...there will be some that the tolerances stack and create problem with the particular machine. \\; HD will fix it (during the warranty period). \\; I would say if the bike has plenty of time on the warranty....forget the extended. \\; If the warrantie time period is coming up....buy it with the extended warranty and just ride the dam thing.
 \\;
I read all kinds of crap on here with problems on the 08. \\; Bike has 9k in 6 weeks and not a problem one other than the valve train noise is different than the 07's noise. \\; But, runs smooth, plenty of power, not going to worry about it. \\; 2 year warranty up it may just be time to rebuild....lol. \\; I will find out whether their design holds up to normal wear and tear. \\; I do not redline nor do I do burnouts, etc. \\; I will run the engine up to 5K rpm when messing around\\; but, not hit the 5500 redline and I don't do that much either. \\; So if I keep riding the way I do, this bike will be at 50-70k miles at 2 years....let you know how it went..
