My son just called from the D.C. area. \\; He says, "Guess where I am?" \\; Of course I have no idea. \\; He's sitting on a new Screamin Eagle Springer in Patriot HD in Fairfax. \\; He's fallen in love. \\; Favorite color, etc... \\; Wants to know what I think? \\; He's considering buying it, but they want $1500 over MSRP. \\; I told him that he could probably get it elsewhere cheaper, especially with the 09's due here in less than 30 days. \\; Any ideas on where he might find one cheaper? \\; He asked what bike I would get if price were not an object, and I told him the ULTRA, and if price were no object, a SE Ultra. \\; He laughed and said he was looking at that too. \\; Advise for my son?
I wouldn't bet on the dealer lowering their prices on the 08s just because the 09s are right around the corner. \\; However he should be able to get some concessions like a gift certificate, no dealer fees, and the like. Usually MSRP is what you'll pay.
Call them back and offer them msrp .I called my dealer and told him the beat price I found and if he matched it I would buy tomorrow. They gave me what I asked for. They are also the highest price dealer around . I bought for 1k under msrp.
I called around and got a nearby dealer to beat the deal of the first. \\; First dealer agreed to waive the freight and set-up costs (about $850). \\; Second dealer wanted the business and matched that, plus dropped the price almost $700 below MSRP on an Ultra. \\; I took delivery a week ago, and am the proud owner of my first real motorcycle! \\; I'd say wait, or at least make a lower counter offer.
not sure what your sons financial situation is, but I walked into fice yep thats right 5 different dealerships with a money order, for the amount I wanted to pay, and the 5th finally took the deal.. the deal was for about 1550 under MSRP I think, I would have to look to be sure...
 \\;
Good luck that SE Springer is purdy!!

I ended up with a 08 Street Glide.
 \\;
Good luck!

patriot hd is not known for being the best place to shop (or have any maintenance done). \\; definitely have him shop around, but i wouldn't go to the extent that you shop so much that you shop yourself right out of a good deal. \\; if you and the dealer can agree on a price that you're happy with, go with it.
I have seen some very good prices on used SE bikes. \\; My buddy just bought a 06 SE Ultra for $26K, I think MSRP in 06 was $34K, so he got if for about 8K off used. \\; 10,000 miles, loaded with extras. \\; My dealer had a 04 SE E-Glide for sale for $18K.
