Yes the sort of work like the old Wing Windows from the older cars. You can re-direct the air to where you want it. I think that they should be very functional.

They look good, but might I ask why you did not go with the Freedom Wings??? The Freedom Wings is what I bought, and they are multi-function, so you can turn them do direct air in on you during the summer time warm weather riding.
I also have Freedom Wings. LOVE THEM! So much better than a fixed wind deflector. As Renegade pointed out FW's are adjustable from completely closed (like a fixed deflector) to all the way open (think AC for your upper body). During the warmer months it's nice having the ability to direct airflow onto your body. Riding a full dresser doesn't mean you can't get that open & airy feeling anymore. I can't speak highly enough about the FW's. Kuryakan sells something similiar except from I heard they are spring loaded and the pair I saw looked like a pair of chrome dragonfly wings. Personally they weren't to my taste, so I opted for the FW's. Glad I did too! My only wish is that HD would develop their own version and equip the bikes with them from the factory.
Ditto with what Tda said. I too looked at the Kuryakan dragonfly wings, and the look of them just turned me off to them. You can't really even tell the Freedom Wings are on my bike unless you really look at it. They just blend in and flow with the bike.
