RE: SG Stereo Upgrade?
nice Moe... i didnt go with a flip out because they often have issues, with all the vibration... anyhow check out my sound system project, by clicking on the link in my sig...
 \\;\\\\\\;
as for a small amp, i have an Alpine PDX-5, (5ch. amp), but am strongly thinking about switching to Arc audio mini amps... i can fit most of them in the fairing, (i will need either 4 2ch.s or 1 2ch. and 1 4ch.) \\;\\\\\\; if i get the 2ch. and 4ch., then i can hide them inside the fairing. \\;\\\\\\; They are very efficient and pack a punch for such a small amp... \\;\\\\\\; they are pretty affordable too... \\;\\\\\\; i have been talking to firecap501 about them, he is very familiar with them, i am still doing some research and trying to finish up some more things, before i switch the amp out...
 \\;
My radio is an Alpine IDA-001 (Ipod only, \\;2 Ipods in \\;one of my bags)
 \\;\\\\\\;
the polk speakers are really good, i am using the Alpine SPX-Pro series, maybe trying some focals, i have laying around too (at least they will be in my lower fairings)...

09 sg stereo system up grade
Currently in the middle of a complete stereo make over. Going with the Alpine 9883 HU, Ipod Nano interface, ARC 125.2 mini amp, HERTZ 6.5" HE Speakers, 6.5" adapters, and the Hog Tunes Tweeter pod. Already sounds amazing but only 3/4's of the way there (awaiting the arrival of the HAWG Wired after market stereo kit).
I think once I take the distortion rating from 1% HK unit to .001% ALPINE unit I will see the sound quality increase another 500%.
BTW FIRECAP and I have been doing this rebuild over the past 3 months (I will publish that story here later) and all I can say is He is the BEST. Customer support second to none!
Will let everyone know what the final product looks like and sounds like shortly.

Asking a question like this will get you plenty of suggestions, mostly from the high end guys, it depends on how much you want to spend. A good start is to upgrade your stock speakers, they are total junk, you can go from about $100 for some 5.25 replacement speakers or around $220 for J&M 7.25's. From there the skies the limit, if you're just looking for a mild upgrade the 7.25's seemed to be well liked & most seem to think they're alright without an amp. It just depends what you're looking for, you can spend from a $100 to $1000's.
