the best thing I found since my first few months riding, not being stopped at lights very long. Simple huh!... when you see you're going to hit a light, control the person behind you, by down shifting before the light... a gradual thing, you protect yourself by making the guy behind you slow down... no hard stops = not getting rear ended... makes sense, you're not stopped at the light for a while heating up. simpler and cheaper than anything you add to the bike. By the way, I have 34 stop lights on my ride home!
All the previous suggestions are good ones, but for my .02, install RJ's or other saddle shields, and Nightrider IED's or XIED's whether you do any thing else or not. \\; \\;You can do both of these for less than $200.00 by yourself. \\; Oh yeah, and \\;DON'T WEAR SHORTS!!
Ditto that problem here 3 years ago on my '05 Ultra.
 \\;
Stage 1, PCIII and Rush 2.5" baffles \\;fixed it. \\; No deflectors either.
 \\;
My legs are cool even in 90+ temps \\;- seriously.

I agree with all the above. I too have a trike, '07 Ultra, Lehman conversion. I have all the modifications mentioned, Vance &\\; Hines True Duals, Stage I air cleaner, PC \\;III USB, Oil cooler, oil temp gauge, Stage \\;II 103c.i., with gear driven 570 cams, etc., etc., etc. I tried the RJOriginals (they are a great product) they just wouldn't fit right. So I installed the HD mirrored heat shields. They work great. I went on the Run For The Wall 2008, Southern Route and didn't have any problems at all. I did have a heat issue on the way back, 190 degrees on the Pennsylvania Turnpike stuck in a truck traffic jam for \\;miles.  \\;I pulled off shut it down and let it cool down. I didn't have to do that, I think I was hotter than the trike. Good Luck.
+10 on the R.J.S. Originals!!!! Spend the extra money versus the HD/Kury plastic versions. \\; I was a little leary of the larger price tag of the RJS deflectors at first. \\;After reading comments on here, I fully agree with the buy once-cry once concept. \\;Spend your money as you wish. If heat relief for your thighs is \\;the issue, quit wasting time or money for plastic \\;deflectors, fuel system \\;gizmos \\;and give RJ a try, you will not be sorry! \\;They are a good looking and most importantly, functional acessory!
I did the Stage 1, SE Slip Ons, RJ's and Xieds. I live in Ventura, CA and we just had a bunch of 100+ days. I road out through the mountains and got caught at a couple of lights and an accident, the heat was there but manageable! You will have to do a couple of things but all will be welcome in the long run.
