noisy 5th gear
Just bought a new 08 Ultra 6 speed and 5th gear is very noisy. \\; Dealer says it 'normal' because its a helical gear - that right?

On second thought - forget I asked the question. \\; Just read all the other posts about noisy 5th gear along with all the sarcastic BS, so save yourselves the trouble of telling me I'm an a**hole for buying the bike and asking stupid questions that have already been answered. \\;

I'm \\;running Mobil1 synthetic 75/140 gearlube in the tranny &\\; it cut down the noise big time. \\; I live in South Florida, if you live in a cooler area you may want to try 75/90.

Put some AMSOIL 75-90 or 75-110 or 75-140 in the tranny and you will notice the difference. \\; www.amsoil.com \\;you can read up on how good it is.

The noise really doesn't bother me anymore. \\;The first week or so it was annoying. \\;I came from a Valkyrie which doesn't make any noise at all and really had no personality either. It's an HD thing, you will either learn to love it or sell it.
