Done... Update
Felt the need to share (perhaps this could be classified as "bragging"). \\;On 7/4/2008 my trusty old FLHT made it to her 47th state (Florida) and on 7/5/2008 she made it to her 48th state (Louisianna). \\;Just returned from 5055 mile trip from Maine, full length of Blue Ridge (MP 0 to Cherokee, NC), Deal's Gap, Cherahola, Florida panhandle across Alabama and Mississippi to Louisianna, Natchez Trace Parkway, Memphis (graceland), York factory (glad I've been on the full tour before - currently not showing the assembly line due to 2009s not announced yet - but saw some color labels (Sierra Red, Red Hot Sunglo) on some shelves). 14 days on road.
 \\;
Got service (oil, tire, etc) in New York and mechanic returns from test drive and says "runs good for an old girl - she's a keeper" (67,340 miles).
 \\;
The last time she was on a trailer, was when HD delivered her to the dealer in N.Y. I bought her from. \\;
Right now, I can't decide, do I keep her, and keep going (Canadian provinces, Alaska, all 48 again?) or do I get a new one and start over... decisions decisions....
 \\;
Update: Well, right after the 09s were announce, I took a ride to local dealer with the thought "If they have an '08 Crimson Red or Vivid Black FLHTC I may have to ask for a trade in $". well, they had one of each! Oh Crap!!!! They told me the trade in, and I almost screamed liked like a little teenage girl! I remained cool. A week later I'm on a 2008 Crimson Red FLHTC. the first weekend it rained and rained and I rode 500 miles smiling the whole way. Still raining and still riding! I asked if I could get the same tradein on an '09 and they almost laughed like a teenage girl. the numbers are: 1999 FLHTC with 67,876 miles and they gave me $8,000 trade (I paid 13,025 incl delivery and set-up, back in 1999). the 8k was deducted from MSRP.
It was a tough decision, I will miss the old gal. But it was time. Hope to get another 9 years and 60,000+ miles out of the new one. currently, haven't done a thing to it - I like to ride a few thousand miles and get the feel for what she wants/needs. Just like a woman.
The numbers I had in mind before going in was 1k off MSRP and 7K trade-in. I got MSRP and 8k trade in. same difference.

Bought bike new in 99 and went to sturgis that year. \\;\\\\\\; didn't really start trying to ride in all states until 2002 (I repeated the ride to Sturgis in 2006). \\;\\\\\\; Doing the northwest was the most "grueling" - approx 7500 miles in 16 days (average 450+ per day)
 \\;\\\\\\;
2002 most of the eastern states as far as Georgia, Alabama, Mississipi
2004 Southwest including Cali
2006 Northwest
2008 Florida and Louisianna.
 \\;\\\\\\;
every other year, I take a two week vacation from work. \\;\\\\\\; my boss calls it my "bi-annual easy-rider tour" - I told him it prevents me from showing up at \\;work with a loaded shotgun, he said "take as much time as you need"
