I need help from anyone that may have had a similiar experience.
The check engine light and the red battery light comes on after starting. I pull the codes which show P0562 which indicates low battery voltage. The bike is an 06 which had the voltage regulator recall, this was already replaced 2 yrs ago. My question is, could this be the voltage regulator causing the battery low voltage? The gauge is reading 14 volts when crusing. What gets me is the bike starts and runs just fine. Is this a indication of a battery about to go out? Has anyone experianced this? I will most likely get new battery on Monday but would hate to replace the battery and find out its the regulator. Any thoughts?
Update.
Took the battery in to the dealer. They ran a check on the battery and they said all was good. The bike is at 14.1 volts when running. They said the Ultra pulls alot of power, "it's normal", not to worry. How can this be OK for the ECM to throw codes and be "nothing to worry about?"
If they just checked your battery that just means it is good. \\;The code and light is not "Normal" as they always say. \\;I would suggest diagnostics on the \\;voltage regulator and stator. \\;
That throwing codes thing was explained to me by a 15 year HD tech. He said you can have a split second, one time engine fart and it will throw a code. It doesn't mean it's an ongoing problem, just that it may have come under the right...or wrong conditions. If you had the battery tested and the voltage regulator checks out okay, \\;get the code cleared and go down the road. \\; \\;
