There are not too many WWII or Korean War Vets still riding. Us Baby Boomers are getting long in the tooth.
The majority of the new riders don't have any links with the past. They don't have any nostalgia for a past they never lived in. \\;
Harley has to think ahead. Who will their new customers be and what do those potential customers want in a motorcycle.
My bet is the new riders will demand high tech.
Harley will keep a close eye on the market and start adding liquid cooling on a model by model basis.

Beary,
Because, in the history of the world, no one has ever walked up to a Gold Wing rider and said "Gorgeous Bike!". Unless, of course, it's another Gold Wing rider...
Beary, I bet you also complained when the dial phone was replaced with the push button phone, or the generator was replaced by an altenator, or carbs were replaced by fuel injection, or jets took over from prop planes, or vinyl records were replaced by 8 track players, replaced by cassette players, replaced by CD players, replaced by MP3 players, or that the Model T went out of production or on and on and on. Change, that is what life is all about!!!
Why don’t these folks go get a Gold Wing or similar bike.They are very fine bikes with the qualities these folks really wanted anyways.
Because, as I wrote in the OTHER thread, its not ALL about the motor. The Goldwing, Venture, Vision, Nomad, Stratoliner, etc, all have OTHER aspects to them that rule them out, at least for me, motor aside.
Air cooled dont make the bike. The bike is just a bike. Its more about how it makes you feel when riding it. Those of us that love motorcycles know this. \\\\\\; Some people are just into the Harley Image and would not understand. \\\\\\;Harleys are great great bikes. Making them (at least the touring ones) water cooled is not going to change that.

New tech, go get it. There is plenty of it out there. Why stick with Harley and hate it?
Wanting to improve on it is a far cry from HATING it. Do you really think I would have sunk 28 grand in my bike if I HATED it? Yea, some would. Just to say they ride a HARLEY. Im not one of them. I bought a motorcycle, not a name.
Is your bike BONE stock? Did you do a stage 1 or change the pipes? Change the seat? Add some chrome? WHY? Did you HATE it the way it was? If so, why did you buy it? Because you had something you wanted to CHANGE, to improve the bike for your desires and wants?. Unless your bike is bone stock, the way it came off the floor, did you HATE it so bad you changed it?
The only difference is the scale of the change.
Hell, I put a tourpak on my Street Glide. Should I be FORCED to buy an Ultra instead, because thats the way Harley intended it and thats the way its always been and Ive committed a carnal SIN to the Street Glide by putting the trunk on and Ive spat in the face of Ultra owners by not buying it instead?
If I wanted to ride an old bike I'd buy an antique. \\; Let's get with the times. \\; If making the engine water cooled will make the bike run cooler I say do it.
