My Brother has 88k on his nothing but H-D 360 DINO since day one. Bel Ray 85-140 in trans. No engine or tranny work at all. \\; My Brother has been a wrench for 33 years and feels that you are better off running DINO and changing it more often than trying to run Synthetic longer because you still get impurities in the oil. He claims the the important thing is that you change it. If you hit heavy parade speeds for extended periods, change it when you get home.
Good stuff.
I have a co-worker that owns a 01 Classic with 98,000 and still going strong. \\; \\; 3 weeks ago the lifters had to be replaced b/c one was ticking, \\;somewhere between 60 and 70 the cam shoes wore completely out and got into metal so the cams, cam bearings, and shoes were replaced along with removing the oil pan to clean it out. \\; \\;Screen and O-ring \\;at the fuel pickup around 96000 had to \\;be replaced. \\;The bike left him stranded one single time when the crank position sensor died around 30K. \\; \\; Other than that the head bolts have never been turned. \\; \\; I think somewhere in all those miles there was a inner primary leak but thats about all I can remember. \\; \\; I hope mine gives the same good service.
At that rate, I will be ready for OH in 2 1/2 years or less. \\;[:-] \\; I've got 64,600 miles on mine and put 27,000 on her last year. \\; \\;I can't imagine putting less miles per year on it than that.... \\;
 \\;
That my theory, and the theory I am practicing.
