it is very easy just pull the bowl off the bottom of the carb, and the main jet will be the biggest jet right in the center of the bottom of the carb, it will have a number on it, you should get at least 3 jets in numbers down from what you are starting at ,say it has a 120 in it you need to get a 110,100,and a 95# jets depending on your plug read. I think your carb has hex jets in it so look for that they are brass, pop in the next smaller jet to start, ride it with your old plugs in it(they color the fastest) go for about 3 miles with the engine warm, come back check the plugs to see if they changed to brown. The best plug to check is the back one,it gets the least amount of air to cool it so it would be the leanest. If you get brown leave it alone until the wether changes drasticly,if it didn't change much go down a nother step in the main jet,do the ride, and check again ect...
If the plug on the back cylinder changes to grey go back up one # because that is too lean.

Man all of my 2-stroke racing days did pay off after all, I guess I did this with my old FLH too.

you will have gas in the bowl ,and it will run out of the carb when the float is down, I made a "clip" to hold the float up, so fuel won't run out, make sure you turn the fuel off before you pull the bowl, and you could just have a small pan or cup to catch the fuel.
Yes the jets screw out, sorry for the confusion.

My 05 with 95", 204, High Flow and True Duals, carbed just got 47, two up, last Sunday. The carb has a 180 main, 46 slow with a .020" shim under the needle. It requires the enrichener only to start, then ride off.

Now, when I lived in downtown Chicago, I got as low as 28 because it was all stop and go, stop light to stop light. I've done some tweaking since then plus open road at a steady cruise will always give you the best mileage, say 60-65.

It shouldn't cost more than 1.5 hours in labor. Jets are about 3$ each.
