Default '09 chassis question

Are the 2009 touring changes a significant improvement?&nbsp\\; I will be purchasing a new Ultra soon.&nbsp\\; Was going to look for a deal on an '08.&nbsp\\; From a tech standpoint, are the changes a big step forward?

Thanks,
Moe

Who knows nobody here has one yet.&nbsp\\; You report when you buy one.&nbsp\\; That said 08s are&nbsp\\;great in my book.

Some nice changes, but the 08's are great and there are a lot on the street. Some good discounts will be available, I'm sure.

I'm not to excited about the exhaust.&nbsp\\; Will TD still fit?&nbsp\\; How long before the aftermarket will catch up Rinehart, V&amp\\;H?

It was my hope, in asking the question the way I did, that perhaps someone with an engineering background or even an astute, grizzled rider familier with other brand bikes would recognise the updates as a big potential improvement.&nbsp\\; Something another manufacturer has had success with or an obvious engineering fix.
&nbsp\\;
I have hoped in vain.
&nbsp\\;
Thanks,

The frame is stiffer, the swing arm is bigger and stiffer. The motormounts are changed to 4 point support. Handling will improve significantly. The frame flex on the prior years is very bad which affects handling. Another big improvement is the combo of the new built in IDS and the additional 2 teeth on the rear sprocket. The final gear ratios are now where they should be, at least a lot better. Very comparable to a Baker DD6 now. The 08 is a good bike, these frame changes and gearing changes should make it a great bike.

I believe the extra two cogs on the rear wheel sprocket are to accommodate the larger rolling radius of the bigger tire. The engine speed to road speed in any gear will probably be just the same as before. Cannot say anything about better handling, I do not see the need for anything better on my 07 FLHRC, especially not at the expense of greater weight.

Plus, with the taller tire, higher swingarm pivot, etc. it appears as though to keep the seat height the same they have gone to thinner saddles. Ouch.
