Default Touring Changes for '09

What's your interpretation of the changes that HD made to the touring frame?&nbsp\\; Is it anticipation of going liquid cooled next year?&nbsp\\; I'm assuming it is still a rubber mounted motor on the tourers?

My understanding is that they needed a bit more room for the new exhaust pipe routing.&nbsp\\;Beleive they also wanted to clean up the&nbsp\\;frame welds&nbsp\\;and the 180mm rear tire - so they solved a couple issues at the same time.&nbsp\\;I have not seen an 09 yet, but think my guesses are close. As for water cooled next year - I would not doubt the new frame was engineered for this as well - keep in mind, they are usually five years ahead in R&amp\\;D.

my guess is the new frame is for the bad design they had when you needed

a aftermarket device to keep it riding straight-ride safe
