So how does this wiz-bang emergency drive belt get installed? Don't tell me all you have to do is remove the inner primary and rear axle bolt to squeeze it in.

Old thread or not it is back to life. You would more likely need a spare engine than a spare belt. provided you inspect it now and then adjust it correctly. I have put over 80,000 on a couple of them . 75,000 on others never had one fail. My 1996 FB still has the factory belt on it.
And I was told the Belt would not last 10K with the sidecar. They got that wrong also.

I always start reading in good faith and am surprised by the age of the op when someone notices. The original thread brought up a good question about the lower guard. I have never run my 08 Rod King without it and the belt is fine at 97,000+ miles, no damage, stone or otherwise. for anyone wondering about the lower guard. Based on no damage history AND the tension adjustment deflection scale it seems worth leaving on.
