This is the first year that I have left them on.&nbsp\\; I've three trips from Milwaukee to the DC area with rain each trip.&nbsp\\; Later this summer planning on trip to east Texas and then up to Oregon.&nbsp\\; They'll stay on.

I keep my bike half cover, fork lock,fuel octane booster and&nbsp\\;Plexus\\rag in mine... Feel naked without my stuff.&nbsp\\; And as mentioed above, if you run into cold &amp\\;\\or rain they make a big differance.&nbsp\\; Mine stay on all year...&nbsp\\;

IMHO, leave on...&nbsp\\; Better to have and not need than want and not have...&nbsp\\; (Could be said of other things too...)

We just met about sturgis and being my first time all my friends said take them off because of heat. I feel I should leave them on. Also I am trailering mine there do to a back problem.

Sorry to hear about the back - that sucks. I'd leave them on and replace the bat wing air deflectors with the new adjustable version from HD or Kuryakyn.&nbsp\\;You keep the lowers for&nbsp\\;protection in the inevitable rain and wind.&nbsp\\;The adjustable air deflectors give lots of ventilation that you can tune toward you, or not.&nbsp\\;Both will give you control at any kind of movement.&nbsp\\;If you're not moving, the lowers aren't what's making you hot.

Exactly, the hot parts are&nbsp\\;the engine, tranny and the exhaust, and we all know " hot air rises". Removing the lowers doesn't&nbsp\\;do anything to help with preventing the heat from going up.

Driving that distance you will encounter all sorts of weather
