I take anything I read in AI with a tablespoonful of salt.
Closely compare the 360 images of the 08 and 09 bikes at the H-D website, they claim the same seat height for 09 as 08. It is obvious the 09 seats are thinner by the 360 images.
They claim the same wheelbase and fork rake, but the new bikes have a half inch more trail. That in combination with the extra weight should make them harder to throw around at speed. One possible benefit of the newer frame with fewer parts/welds is that maybe they will be better able to consistently build bikes that will go straight down the road with the rear tire directly following the front for a change.

No problem with crossover dragging on lean angles.
Actually I was referring to dragging the crossover pipe in potholes, ditches, rocks on dirt roads, and maybe bottoming it on an abrupt dip or speed bump.
Take a look at pix in American Iron from bottom of bike...exhaust actually goes through a frame extrusion which protects it...you'd bottom the frame...not the pipe...
