02 uses 4 ohm speaker. look at the back of the speaker should be marked with \\;wattage and ohms. \\; it does sound as if you have a short in the wiring or possible ground issue. let me know if this helps

speakers are pioneer 4 ohm, can't remember the wattage. i'm sure they are crappy speakers. i just may put a whole new system in...just wanted to do other things first though.
