I change mine every Spring, no matter the mileage.
I also run one step cooler than stock
I prefer NGKs (from my shop owner days) but Autolite, Bosch, Champs will do
Fresh plugs are the cheapest performance mod you can make.

I might give the Iridiums a try this next time around. There are a few of my friends that swear by them. They supposedly keep the engine starting/running smoother and acutally add to the power/torque slightly. You're only buying two of them so it can't be too expensive.

change them before they start misfiring, trust me. thought I could get a couple thousand more out of the set i had. Was gonna change them before our vacation, but things got crazy & I spaced it. went from a slight misfire to pulled over in less than 20 miles. We were stranded for about a half an hour. Sure felt like a dumba$$

Go for it, spend the $6 bucks, bike will run smoother.

After trying numerous style plugs I went back to the stock HD plugs my bike runs and idles better. I save my lunch money and change my plugs every other oil change.
