OK, I have never felt it before, and I am not sure if I did this evening or not.
I was on the way home from work on the Interstate. I was behind a cager, at a safe distance, cruising about 70-75 mph. Anyway, a tire from a tractor trailer starts coming apart, big chunks of rubber are flying everywhere. I would have taken one in the face had it not been for the fairing and windshield. The cager slams on the brakes, and so did I. The brakes on the cager are much better of course, and he was slowing much faster than I was. I was on the binders as hard as I could, and the rear tire started to howl. I backed off of that pretty quick, still keeping firm pressure on both brakes. Fortunately, the cager accelerated and that kept me from hitting him. Just as he speed up, while still on the binders pretty hard, the whole bike started to wobble. Really felt it in the front, but not sure how much of it was coming from the rear of the bike. Consequently to say, the pucker factor was pretty high about now. This went on for about 100 ft, then I was able to pull it out. Scared the $hit out of me.
Is this the wobble everyone speaks off, or was I experiencing something entirely different?
I think that was something totally different. I ride a 2007 Ultra and I sometimes feel a slight wobble, but nothing like you described. I don't know what causes any of it, but I hate it.
thats whats commonly refered to as head shake, and not the same as the "wobble" for me the bike just felt loose all the time, like the frame was flexing, not reallly a wobble per say, if all you ever rode was a harley you probably wouldent notice it, but add something like the missing link and you will know what a bike is supposed to feel like, I could tell instantly just riding a straight line down the freeway, the bike actually goes straight now, no more wierd wandering,
