I don't really know or care if my RK goes over about 85mph....that gets done everything I need, including passing. I find 6th gear very useful at about 65 mph for straight cruising and even light loads such as cresting minor hills if the incline is slight. I don't expect it to have power in 6th, and downshift when I feel it start to struggle. Wouldn't change my gear ratios from where they are if given the chance....I presume the 09 make 6th gear more useful as a "normal" gear, but I already have 5th gear for that and you lose the "over-drive" that the 07-08 6th gear gives you.
No problems with my 6 guns. I love it. I went from an 06 to an 08 UC and the upgrade was well worth it. I do plan on keeping this one with all the add ons i have on it now. I have no need to go over 85 but have had it up to 100 in 6 with no problem and no strain but it lets you know it don't like it. I think 80 to 85 is the sweet spot for the interstate.
I've got the 08 UC - I have no trouble with my 6-speed even riding 2-up, Mine will pull 110 easy when passing. Thats on 93 octane. Rush slip-ons & ECM 100% - no PWR comander. No tranny vibes and no knocking - 7k miles - I like speed -Retired Air Force

Sixth gear is completely worthless unless you are going down hill with a tail wind. Thats one of the reasons I'm lowering the gear ratio and changing my true dauls to a 2-1 pipes.
hmmm, i've not noticed this problem with my bike. in fact, i can do a roll on from 60 up over 100. stopped at that speed, but it would have given more, i just didn't want it.
I've noticed an 85 or so max in 6th pulling a steep grade. My GPS has registered a true speed in 4th of 104+. Have not maxed it in 5th. 6th is an overdrive cruisng gear and will not give the max in top end.
Sorry to hear about the poor power in the 08. My 07 has no problem, but that may be due to the 103 kit, thundermax and red shift 577 cams. 100+ up hill, riding two up in mountains in 6 gear!!
Crank it up and ride by the rpms and not the speedo, keep it over 3200rpms and it will pull like a freight train.
They really come into their own at about 3800 rpms and all way to redline.
