I would like to add, that be careful about running the engine with the t/s module disconnected. I remember my 99 fatboy, I think it said in the manual if you run it disconnected you will burn out the module.
Can anyone confirm if this is still true?

I didn't spot what year bike it was, but my 2000 RK had the connector for the alternator to voltage reg on the bottom frame rail below the engine oil filler hole. After two years I had voltage problems and happened to unplug the connector to find fresh new oil! I moved the connector (there's plenty of cable) to the cross brace in front of the engine and have had no problems.
