Default oil temp guage

Had my 10k mile service completed last Saturday on my '07 FLHX. While my bike was being serviced I had the HD dealer install the oil temp gauge in the fairing, the one that replaces the useless ambient air temp. Looks nice and seems to work real good. I live in AZ where the weather has been a little over 100 recently. The highest I saw the temp go to was 230 degrees while stopped in traffic and about 210 wile cruising on freeway. Just a fyi if anyone is interested in getting one.

Do you have an oil cooler? If so your reading won't be very accurate until the eng gets to about 200deg.
I'm going to be putting this on my bike and am going to mount the sending unit on the pan by the oil drain.

The pan is the best place to mount sending unit. Gives a more accurate view of the engine temperature. For me the temperature gauge is a nice 'peace of mind' addition especially in hot weather.

The oil temp gauge is on my "short list" of things left to do on my bike...
