I was checking codes on my bike and I discovered the PO444 code. Cruiser helped me identify the code. Can anyone explain as to why I am getting this code? I have an appointment to take the bike in, which is about a 70 mile round trip, but if I can resolve it easily I'd rather do that .
I have reset the code but when I start the bike and turn it back off the presents itself again.
If the message is nothing to worry about immediately please advise also.
On a car, purge is a part of the electronic emissions controls. The purge cycle occurs when gas fumes are removed from the charcoal canister to be burned in the fuel mixture. I don't know if something comparable goes on on a Harley, and I thought only California models had a canister. Thought I would throw this out, as you are not being overrun with responses. Please let us know what you find out.
I known his is an older thread, but wanted to add that I just had that same code (P0444) for the purge solenoid. Turns it the solenoid on the RG is under the seat. The seat hit it, and knocked the plug off. Simple fix. Just plug it back in, and clear the code. I am sure some one somewhere will need this info in the future.
