Yes, the sundowner will sit you a little lower and it is wider, but real comfy. There is a forum member on here that will mod your seat for a good price. I haven't used him but have only heard good things about him. Yachtman, you sure you didn't have the sundowner forward seat? Mine didn't push me forward one bit.
OK SG Sundowner owner, need someone who is approx. 5'9" tall, 175 lbs with a small to medium size butt to give me some real life positive or negative comments on the seat. At $325, it's not a cheap investment if it will not be comfortable and stretch my thighs out like a woman in labor.....
I just measured the seat width on my V-Rod and it's about 12 1/2" wide. It's a perfect fit for me. The Sundowner is 16" across. 4"'s more is good in some situations but is it in this situation??????
BadX modified seats here (many, many positive comments from members)
also- for the member who said that he now looks through the windshield 'like youre supposed to'- youre really not supposed to... you should look over the shield
Save your money and buy a Corbin or Mustang. I had a sundowner and didn't like it because it moved me forward. It was also too soft for me. You really can't go wrong with Corbin or Mustang. "Just say no to HD seats"!
I'm exactly the same size as hdvrodsd and was looking at the seat online as well before hitting the dealer. i had a Mustang on my old FXDB and loved it. It was a little wider and put my feet on the concrete differently than the stock. almost left me on my toes, but it was an awesome and very comfortable seat. it also pushed me back about an inch. but i'm interested in how the sundowner would put me as well. the ppl at my dealer are likely not to have one in stock, much less allow me to try it out. last time i was in there, there were only 6 bikes on the floor. they'd sold out and were waiting for more 09s to come in.
I love mine,I am 6 ft even and 180 lbs,It did set me down around a inch,It did not push me forward at all.But you can beat that price by getting it from ZANOTTI's.Mine was 260.00 from them, and the back rest I got from them beat my local shop by about 70.00.
