One year ago this month I ordered my RKC. I have ridden both & I am very happy with my RKC. If you are going to tour long trips or ride 2up my cents is the RKC.
I was in the same position as your are. Actually I had my heart set on a Heritage for about 2 years. Ended up riding out the door on a RK standard. You may go the other way. I would look at the ups and downs of each. include engine mounting, suspension, usefulness, and comfort. Good luck.
Both are a nice choice, some like RK and some FLSTC, both great on a long trip. I have gone from heritage to street glide, I don´t like the 88B engine and I wanted a protecting fairing after driving a lot in dark and rain.
Just like everyone else is saying, ride both. pull up both bikes online and compare. what comes standard could be important to your wallet. The RKC is a touring bike thus it has dual front brakes, adjustable suspension, windshield, light bar, bigger bags, cruise, ect....
I rented a Heretige when I was in Hawaii and I rode 152 miles that day. That took 8 1/2 hours and my *** was numb and that was enough of that. I missed my bagger. You can't compare the ride...there is no comparison at all. The RKC and Ultra will always ride better than the softail and you will be much happier in the long run on your RK. hope this helps.
I am thinking of moving up to a bigger bike. I like to take long trips and the Dyna is rough on this beat up old body. It will be either a Road King Classic or a Heritage Softail Classic. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Our RoadKing Standard will be here next week. I am/was like you, I loved my Dyna, but my old bones and my wife's old rear just needed something a little bit more. We didn't even consider the Softail. We watched, talked, tested and asked all sorts of stupid questions. When we bought the Dyna, we had really forgotten how much we liked to ride and didn't realize we would be riding the distances we have. We are both really excited about the roadking and the upgrades (sundowner seat, backrests, exhaus, and of course the list goes on and on. We have already planned several long distance trips here in Missouri and to other states, we will also ride to Sturgis this year on it. also, the roadking comes with more than the softtail. Good luck and ride safe
You guys have been alot of help. I went and sat on both today. The seating position on the Road King felt real comfortable and besides that, my wife likes it better too, and thats a good thing.
