has anyone wired the security system through the standard horn on their harley rather than buying the optional horn that plugs into the factory security system?
Sorry, but I don't know why you'd want to???
The H-D security system siren is very loud and trouble free.
Even if you could wire it up, the stock H-D horn is a little piece of garbage that would probably melt after 30 seconds of alarm duty!
factory security system.....275.00 install kit...65.00 smart siren kit...89.95 pager kit...195.95... get the point ? where does it stop? when you pay for a security system that doesn't even have an alarm siren when activated, it tends to make you want to find other ways to make it function than getting into my pocket again to add to a system that should have had a siren to begin with!
This is why I buy from places like Zanotti's. Case in point that $275.00 security alarm is $173.00 thru Zanotti. Not trying to slam you, just trying to point out some other places to buy the same thing you get from your dealer.

I can understand that. Mine came without the alarm so I had it added. I buy all of my extra HD add-on stuff from Zanotti's. My seat and backrest would have been almost $550.00 from local dealer, and less then $400.00 from Zanotti.
My new SG is a month old, and I have already spent over 4k in extras, and saved at least 1k on what I have bought.
I found all of this info on where to buy things at better prices from the General How To Section, and asking people on here. Information Central right here brother on HD Forums.
My bike came from the factory with the security system. I added the siren and pager. Siren is loud. And the pager has a range for 4 city blocks. Probably the best item I bought for this bike. Bob.
I completely understand what your saying Chuck. A factory alarm without the siren.....WTF?
Mine came already installed before dilevery, so its wasn't even a thought. Like the pager, but keep leaving it at home[:@] Its going into the saddle bags today
But what I can add to this....is this.
I have made a couple purchases from www.zanottimotor.com, and would recommend them without question. Prices and customer service, two things that are far and few with HD dealers.
They even have a spot on their website where you can check prices
Having said that, Iam getting my next order completed and ready to summit to Zanotti
