So, when you get your ECM updated by the dealer, where exactly is the flash plug? On cars, it's called the Data Link Connector "DLC" or OBD-II port.

Do Harleys have this connector or something like it? Or does the dealer disconnect the connector at the ECM and plug directly into it?

You have a diagnostic/data port plug right beside the ECM. It works like the OBDii connector on a car and serves the same purpose.

My data link is attached to my fuse block on the left side. Your bike is an 08. Its probably the same. Look for a grey plastic tip that covers the end of the plug. The plug snaps into a lock under the fuse block
