Default Roadglide tourpack for 2003 model

A friend jsut got a 2003 Roadglide and wants to get a tourpack for it. What are his options as I know nothing about tourers? He wants the backrest part for his wife as well. Will one of the $150 ebay specials work? All he cares is that it is black and has the backrest. Thanks.

It will probably do what he wants but you must realize you get what you pay for.
I had a vip that might be the one or one like you are referring to. It held up good for the money but do not add the chrome rack, if you do do it at your own risk. several that added the chrome rack ended up with the top cracking where it mounts. The plastic is thin and will not take the vibration

Got a Used on from a friend that the Insu. Co. replaced less all the hardware .. Buy the time I added all the latches-nuts-locks and such and a quick release rack. Then to have it painted I had over $1200.00

I have both the Mutazu VIP (black,$110, on a solo detachable rack), and the HD King TP on a two-up detachable rack. For solo trips of ten day or grabbing a TP for running errands, the Mutazu is easily the most useable for me since 95% of my riding is done with a solo seat and no TP on the bike. The HD King TP is way too heavy (for me) to grab it to run errands, then remove it, etc. for the next time. The Mutazu holds about 80-85% of what the King TP holds.

If he needs a TP for two-up travel for more than a couple of nights, he ought to buy a King TP.

If he's buying a King TP, it's very difficult to buy one in excellent cosmetic condition, color-matched, etc. for less than the $600 a new-one from HD would cost from a 20% off dealer. If it needs repainting, and the job is done right, it will mean dissassembling the two hinges with four rivets in each, removing the rubber gasket (and buying another), etc.--a lot of work, some new parts, etc. that will wipe-out the "value" of buying it instead of a new one.

Of course, if a person is patient enough, works at it, a good deal can be found.
