Default Fuel Canister Replacement...

I'm about to turn 25K...an HD dealer actually talked me out of not buying something...they said I don't have to replace it unless I noticed something with my bike...hesitation, etc...said it's kinda a PITA to do...

I know I should but, do I NEED to replace it at 25K?...she runs fine

I think the OP is referring to general maintenance, like a filter change, not the recall.

Don't have to necessarily, but I would anyway. Its a 61001-01 for $47 and a 61402-02 top plate gasket for $6.10 and ten 1311D screws for $10 total. I would also change out my fork fluid at 25k even though HD says 50k. You should see how black it gets.

I need to change my filter too. The service manual shows a crimp on clamp for the fuel pickup line. Can I use a worm clamp instead?

I just changed my fuel filter yesterday. You need all the things that dawg said.
Also you need to torque the screws to the spec thy say in the manuel or it will
leak ask me how I know. you would have a hard time getting a scres clamp on the
lines. new clamps come with the filter as well as a new hose the hose is very hard to
get on the fittings I held it close to a small personal heater until it was very warm
then it wen on fairley easy. you should have a paid of cv boot clamp pliers to crimp the clamps
