My 09' is pushin 25K so I asked the dealer about the fuel filter he said "no worries ride it" course he's not sittin on it in Bum f**k Egypt. He said they only change em if they're in the tank for another reason. Sound right? Little fishy to me.

I hate the whole "if it ain't broke, don't fit it" that some guys push.
Scheduled maintenance is in your best interest.
I would recommend changing it. Only takes a few minutes, costs a few bucks and will alleviate issues. The crap I blew out of my 03 at 11,000 miles was fairly significant.
I agree with twodollarbill that you should follow the maintenance schedule.
Having said that I wished I followed my own advice. I'd rather ride it than work on it and other than oil changes, I usually push evrythign else to the extreme. My 08 has over 60,000 miles on it and other than when the fuel filter shell crapped out at around 9,000 and was replaced under warranty, I haven't touched it.
My advice would be to change it for piece of mind but I don't think it's something you have to run out and do immediately. Do it when it's convienent.

If I pay for it, they better perform the act. If they are not performing the required maintenance, Per the Official Harley Davidson Service Schedule, I would contact Corporate Customer Service and let them know.

Not the case, did not pay anything, just asked about it needing to be changed
