Hey guys, has anyone powdercoated their pushrod tubes? I am currently collecting everything to black out my motor and the last pieces to the puzzle are the pushrod tubes.
Here's my dilemma, when I bought my bike I was told it has "some cams" in it. I've also been told that the pushrod tubes would be a different length because of the cams. I dont want to take my motor down to have mine powdercoated so I'd like to buy some and have them done. is it true that the pushrod tubes would be a different because of the cams? any advice?
Pushrod tubes are adjustable in length, but most people don't change tubes with a cam swap, just the pushrods themselves (most go with adjustables so they don't have to open the rocker boxes). Only way you can effect the dimension of the pushrod tubes is to change the length of the cylinders or deck the heads. Should be able to pick up another set or one of the 'pretty' aftermarket sets and be fine
Thanks for the info! I hope to bring the last few pieces to the powdercoater this week so I can finish up operation black out. I'll be sure to post some photos when I'm done.

They all have at least 2 cams in them. If the PO put S&S adjustable push rods in, I believe they come with a different set of push rod tubes that open up more to gain access to the adjusters. Just what I saw when planning my cam change. You can get the tubes from HD in black. However as I learned this weekend, they don't include the spring cap in the center. No one seems to offer them either. I just finished changing all the engine and trans covers. I added cams while it was apart.
Edit: DON'T USE DRAG SPECIALTIES BLACK CHROME BOLTS. THEY ARE JUNK!!!

Thanks for the info, your motor looks great! so how much work is it to change the pushrod tubes? do you have to remove the heads? I plan on changing them out when I change out the rocker boxes and was hoping it wouldn't be a giant pain in the *** to do them at the same time. any advice is appreciated!
